The Bush is located in the Suffolk Village of Shimpling, in-between Bury St Edmunds and Sudbury. The pub got a relaxed family feel while serving the best possible local produce. Our kitchen and bar uses the best suppliers from around East Anglia. You can expect a melting pot of English, Scandinavian and other cuisines while keeping food and drink miles low and supporting producers from Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire and Essex.
We set our standards at The Bush as high as we do at our Vineyard, Mount Farm Vineyards – ARK Wines located just 2km from the pub. We have a great selection of local ales, lager and cider at the bar. You will find favorites from all over East Anglia. The Stour Valley, which runs from Newmarket, near the source of the River Stour, through the Dedham Vale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to Cattawade in Essex has an impressive 17 vineyards – we stock them all, along with other Vineyards in East Anglia, making The Bush the best stocked wine bar with local produce in the country.
Our food suppliers have also been chosen with the very same ethos; we source our ingredients only from the best producers and suppliers within East Anglia. We will always have a fantastic, seasonal, and fresh selection of charcuteries, fish, seafood, meat, fruit and vegetables at The Bush. This enables us to create incredible dishes to the high standard we strive for.
The Kitchen at The Bush offers a varied and exciting menu based on locally available produce. The menu will vary from week to week dependent on the season and availability of local produce. Our typical menu will include a few choices of starters/small plates and a few main course dishes. We will always cater for vegan diets and will have a variety of seafood and meat options too. Our dessert menu follows the same pattern and will offer a few puddings like chocolates, fruit and berries, homemade ice creams and a fantastic range of local cheeses to suit every taste. All food at The Bush is cooked from scratch in the kitchen and made from local produce, chosen on the day and based on quality only, just as food should be.
